Body Worn Cameras in our NYC Metropolitan Healthcare Environment

February 27

What we know so far, and what we can expect in the future

Obviously, the use of BWCs in the private sector has increased dramatically in the past few years. On a national level in the healthcare sector, BWCs are becoming more commonly utilized by:

* Security officers and hospital-based law enforcement

* Emergency medical services

* Public health, specifically for home health visits

* Nurses in both psychiatric/behavioral health units and emergency departments
Our panel of experts will discuss the potential benefits and disadvantages of BWCs in a healthcare organization. For example, will BWCs help reduce incidents of violence and increase the perception of safety? Can they help improve the quality of training? What about potential disadvantages, including privacy concerns, any technical limitations and the costs associated with such a roll-out?

Also to be covered:
*How and where in the United States are BWCs being used?
*Data currently available to support or oppose the future use in NYC area hospitals.
*Current laws that regulate BWCs, including those that pertain to privacy and consent.
*Current industry standards and existing case studies.
